❄️ No Power Needed

Pressure-activated gel absorbs body heat on contact and recharges automatically after a short rest. Zero electricity, zero water.

🐾 Critical for Flat-Faced Breeds

Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs have limited ability to regulate heat through panting. This mat gives them immediate passive cooling.

🧪 Non-Toxic Gel Fill

Completely safe if the outer layer were ever compromised. Durable puncture-resistant polyester exterior handles outdoor use and claws.

🎒 Rolls Flat for Travel

Works in the car, at the park, on holiday. Wipe-clean surface, packs to nothing, set up in seconds wherever you need it.

Description

Self-cooling gel mats work on a principle that sounds almost too simple to be effective — pressure activates the gel inside, the gel absorbs body heat, and the surface stays noticeably cooler than the ambient temperature around it. No power required. No water to freeze. No setup beyond unrolling it. Your dog finds it, lies on it, and within seconds their core temperature begins to regulate.

In warm weather, that process is not just comfortable — for flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Pugs that struggle to pant effectively, it can be genuinely important for their safety. Overheating in dogs is one of the most common warm-weather emergencies vets treat, and it escalates faster than most owners expect.

  • No power, no water, no setup — pressure-activated gel works instantly
  • Stays cooler than ambient temperature — absorbs body heat on contact, recharges automatically
  • Critical for flat-faced breeds — Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs
  • Non-toxic gel fill — completely safe even if the outer layer is ever compromised
  • Durable puncture-resistant surface — handles outdoor use and enthusiastic dogs
  • Rolls flat for travel — works in the car, at the park, on holiday
  • Wipe-clean surface — damp cloth after outdoor use
  • Three sizes — Small, Medium, and Large

Always ensure your pet has access to fresh water and shade. The cooling mat supplements a cool environment — it does not replace it.

How To Use

  1. Unroll and place — lay the mat flat on any surface indoors or outdoors. No preparation needed — the gel activates immediately under pressure.
  2. Let your dog discover it — most dogs find the mat on their own within minutes, attracted by the cooler surface temperature. You can encourage them by placing them on it gently the first time.
  3. Allow recharge time — after prolonged use (typically 15–20 minutes of continuous contact), the gel needs 15–20 minutes to recharge before it cools effectively again. Simply move your dog off the mat briefly.
  4. Use during travel — lay flat in the car boot or back seat. Particularly useful for long journeys in warm weather.
  5. Clean after outdoor use — wipe down with a damp cloth. For heavier soiling, mild soap and warm water on the surface only. Do not submerge.

Tip: Store the mat in a cool room between uses. A mat that starts at room temperature will provide better initial cooling than one stored in a warm area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much cooler does it actually stay?
The gel surface typically stays 5–10°F cooler than the surrounding ambient temperature during active use. The effect is most noticeable in warm rooms or outdoors on hot days.

Does it need to go in the fridge to work?
No — refrigerating the mat before use is optional and extends the initial cooling window, but it is not required. The gel activates purely through pressure and body heat absorption.

My dog chewed a corner. Is the gel safe?
The gel fill is non-toxic and pet-safe. If the outer layer is significantly damaged, we recommend replacing the mat rather than continuing to use it, as the gel could leak and create a mess.

Can cats use it?
Yes — the Small size works well for cats. Most cats discover the cooler surface on their own and will use it voluntarily in warm weather.

Does it work in air-conditioned rooms?
In an already cool room, the mat provides a marginally cooler surface but the effect is less pronounced. It is most effective in warm environments where the temperature differential between the gel and ambient air is significant.
